Starting technique determines victory or defeat.

The Olympic sprint consists of three riders on a team, with each team member riding in order one lap at a time in the front position, competing based on the time of three laps around the track.

Start Race Development Team Composition
  • Racer on the innermost portion takes the lead spot.
  • Racers must ride at walking speed or faster.
  • Standing-style riding is prohibited.
  • Flying start upon the blowing of the whistle. Winners of a 200 m time-trial race with a flying start advance to the elimination tournament.

    Leaving Maintaining of Top Speed
The rider in front heads to the outer portion of the bank and then leaves the track. Drafting or slipstreaming behind teammates enables the maintaining of top speed until the finish.
